Clergy/Musician:

Rev. Dr. Charles Packer and Irena Steyman are on staff at Pine Hill.  Rev. Packer will meet with you to go over your wedding plans and converse and guide you through the premarital worksheets.  He will direct the rehearsal with the help of the Pine Hill wedding coordinator.  Many of your questions regarding the wedding will be answered during the premarital sessions.  By the time your wedding day arrives, you'll know Rev. Packer and he'll know you!  Hopefully the time spent together will strengthen you both in this preparation period.

Irena Steyman is our organist and pianist at Pine Hill.  She is marvelous in so many ways and welcomes the opportunity to share with you.  She will be happy to accompany your soloist(s) if needed.

During the rehearsal and the day of your wedding, we will have a wedding coordinator here to assist everyone and help with last minute details.  The coordinator will also clean the church following your departure.

The Wedding License:

The wedding license must be obtained from the County Clerk of the Michigan County in which you reside.  If you are living out of state, then the license must be applied for in the county in which the service is to take place.  The license must be applied for within thirty days of your wedding date.  It normally takes two business days for the license to be processed, so please do not wait until the last minute to apply.  It may be good to call or check the website of the County Clerk's Office where you will apply for this license to ascertain as to the information you will need to bring to the Clerk's office.  Please bring the marriage license with you at the time of the rehearsal and give it to the minister or wedding coordinator.  Do not write on the license or make any changes to it.

Church Sanctuary Details:

Pine Hill seats approximately 110 people comfortably.  The chancel area (front of the church where you will stand during the service) is flexible, in that everything is moveable.  So depending upon the number of attendants, we can provide more space if needed.  The building is air-conditioned.  There is an elevator for those with special needs.  Rooms will be available for the wedding party to dress and prepare prior to the wedding.

Church Expectations Regarding the Building and Service:

Pine Hill wishes for you, your family and guests to have a special, safe and meaningful time while here.  For this reason, we have some basic expectations we ask everyone to follow while here at Pine Hill.

We do not permit smoking anywhere in the building.  As well, we do not permit the use of alcoholic beverages anywhere in the building, or on church property.

No rice, birdseed or balloons are to be thrown, nor used at anytime.  (Safety issues for everyone and the environment)

Candles are not to be blown out after the service, or removed from the chancel area, except by the wedding coordinator.

We ask that parents of young children be diligent in watching their children at all times while on site.  Please do not go into other parts of the building that are not being used to accommodate your wedding and wedding preparations.

Have your florist call the church regarding delivery of flowers.  The church phone is 248-626-2737.

If you plan to have your flower girl drop real flower pedals, you will need to provide an aisle runner to protect the carpet.  Florists normally sell aisle runners (50' runner is sufficient.)

The couple is responsible to provide a unity candle if so desired.

There is a three-hour timeframe for your wedding day.  If you need more time, please talk with the minister during the premarital session.

Please try and be prompt for your rehearsal and encourage those who are attending it to do the same!  Rehearsal normally takes 45 minutes to an hour if we start on time.

Please safeguard all personal possessions while you are here at Pine Hill.  We are not responsible for lost property.

Photography/Video:  Please have your photographer speak to the minister one-hour prior to the wedding to discuss protocol.  The photographer may take flash picutres during the processional and recessional if you so desire.  No flash pictures may be taken during the service.  If a video camera is used, it must be placed in an area of the sanctuary specified by the minister.

The minister is responsible for the content and overall editorial privilege in creating, planning and sharing of the wedding ceremony.  However, the minister encourages the couple to share in this process and works to incorporate your ideas, suggestions, etc.!

Thank you!
